Emerge for Natural Hair*

1/30/20

No filter just natural product for naturals like me.
My natural hair is super important to me. It's always under a wig but it's the thing my wigs need to adhere too if I want to be a hot girl all summer. I'm always looking for new products to soften and control frizz. So when I was selected to test out an all-natural product line call Emerge I was jumped on it. At first, I thought I would just use it on my natural hair but decided to see if I could kill two birds with one stone. I decided to wash my 3B extensions then try it again on my natural 4A hair.

Here's my honest review...

Shampoo

I decided to use this on my extensions 3B hair type.  I do have a little leave out around my edges.  The product definitely cleaned my curly hair. There were little to no suds so I kept wondering if it was actually out of my hair. I love that it didn’t feel slippery. The packaging made it easy to hold on my hand while in the shower. My issue was, I didn’t hydrate my hair at all. The smell is horrible. It reminds of the sweet pea from Bath and body works. How is the product organic if you add perfume? It’s got coconut oil so I don’t understand why they didn’t stick to that scent. Would I purchase this over what I already have, no, but if it was the only thing they offered I would use it.

My 4A hair: worked ok, cleaned it but I wouldn't replace it with my Organix shampoo.

Conditioner

I decided to use this on my extensions 3B hair type. I do have a little leave out around my edges.  The product definitely didn’t add moisture but didn’t take it away either. Maybe if I warmed it up under a blow dryer I would have got better results. I love that it didn’t feel slippery. The packaging made it easy to hold in my hand while in the shower. My issue was, I didn’t hydrate my hair at all. The smells is horrible. It reminds of the sweet pea from Bath and body works. How is the product organic if you add perfume? It’s got coconut oil so I don’t understand why they didn’t stick to that scent. It also left my hair feeling stringy and not clustered curls. Would I purchase this over what I already have, no, but if it was the only thing they offered I would use it?

My 4A hair: I felt this product worked really well. I used a deep conditioner that left my hair dry. But I warmed up Emerge conditioner and left it on my hair for three minutes and it was great! So the lesson, warm it up! I also add some of my organix conditioners.

Cream

I believe this only works well on freshly washed hair. I used it on my 3B extensions a day after I used the shampoo and conditioner. I was not impressed with utilizing this to tame the curls. It didn’t work for my 3B extensions. I do think this may work well for twist outs on 4A because it’s not watery or greasy. I also do not like the smell. It smells like sweet pea from bath and body works.

My 4A hair: it's perfect for a twist out.
